A collaborative YouTube queue, no subscription required

No Spotify subscription required: Roomzic runs its own internal queue on top of YouTube, with an embedded player, host approval, and Spotify playlist import when you want to start from an existing library.

How it works

1

Guests search YouTube

Guests search directly in the room's search bar, powered by the YouTube catalog, and suggest a video.

2

Suggestions join Roomzic's internal queue

Unlike Spotify, there's no external 'YouTube queue' to write to — Roomzic keeps its own ordered queue of suggestions (accepted, pending, played) for the room.

3

You decide what plays

The host approves or refuses each suggestion, or switches approval off so tracks go straight into the queue.

4

Playback in the embedded YouTube player

The room's designated device (the host, or a chosen moderator) runs an embedded YouTube IFrame player that everyone can follow in real time.

5

The queue advances automatically

When a video ends, Roomzic advances the internal queue to the next accepted suggestion and loads it into the player.

Why use YouTube Music with Roomzic

No music subscription required

YouTube search works for any host account — unlike Spotify, there's no Premium requirement to control playback.

Everyone can follow the same player

The embedded YouTube player is visible to whoever is running it, giving the room a single shared "now playing" screen.

A destination for Spotify playlists too

If your group already lives on Spotify, Roomzic can convert an existing Spotify playlist into this same YouTube queue in a few clicks.

Full control over the queue order

Move suggestions up or down, or jump straight to a specific track — useful for long parties with dozens of suggestions.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a YouTube Premium or Music subscription?
No. Unlike Spotify, Roomzic's YouTube mode doesn't require any paid subscription to control playback — any host account works.
How is the YouTube queue different from Spotify's?
Spotify has a native queue Roomzic writes to directly. YouTube doesn't, so Roomzic maintains its own internal queue of suggestions and plays them through an embedded player it controls.
Who actually plays the video?
A single designated device — the host by default, or a moderator you choose — runs the embedded YouTube player. That's the device the sound comes from.
Can I import a Spotify playlist as a YouTube queue?
Yes — Roomzic can convert any playlist from a connected Spotify account into a matching YouTube queue automatically. See our guide on importing a Spotify playlist to YouTube.
Do guests need a YouTube account?
No. Guests only need a free Roomzic account to search and suggest.
Can I reorder the queue?
Yes, accepted suggestions can be moved up, down, or jumped directly to a specific position in the queue.
