Before the party, during the party

Your party doesn't depend on your guests' suggestions: your base playlist plays either way. Suggestions are a bonus you stay in control of.

Get everything ready

  1. Connect your music platform

    Link YouTube, Audius, Apple Music or Spotify (beta) from your profile. Only you, the host, need one.

  2. Set up your base playlist

    On YouTube, Audius and Apple Music, load one of your playlists into the room. On Spotify, pick the playlist you will start on your Spotify device.

  3. Invite your guests

    Share the link or the room code, or show the QR code from the participants screen. Guests need a free Roomzic account (email, Google or Apple).

  4. Receive the first suggestions

    As soon as the platform is connected, guests can join and search for tracks. Their suggestions wait in your list.

  5. Set your rules

    Choose whether suggestions need your approval (the default), how many each guest can have waiting, and how many upcoming tracks guests see.

During the party

Let it play, step in when you want

  1. The playlist plays by itself

    On YouTube, Audius and Apple Music, the Roomzic page open on the host's (or a moderator's) device plays the queue and moves on to the next track automatically. On Spotify, your Spotify Connect device keeps playing.

  2. Guests keep suggesting

    They search the catalog from their own phone and send tracks whenever they like.

  3. You and your moderators are notified

    Suggestions appear in the pending list. If you turned on push notifications, you are alerted when one needs approval.

  4. Accept or refuse

    An accepted track joins the queue right after the current one; a refused one is dropped.

  5. Reorder when you want

    Move tracks up or down, send one to a precise position, skip or go back (YouTube, Audius, Apple Music).

  6. Enjoy the party

    The music keeps playing while you manage the list.

If nobody suggests anything, the base playlist just keeps playing. Roomzic doesn't invent music, so choose a playlist long enough for your evening.

Who does what

Guests, moderators and the host

Everyone has a clear role. The host decides how much to delegate.

Guests

They take part, they never control the music.

  • Join with the link, the code or a QR code
  • Need a free Roomzic account (email, Google or Apple), but no app and no music subscription
  • Search the host's music catalog and suggest tracks, before or during the party
  • See what is playing and the upcoming tracks
  • With approval on, have a limited number of suggestions waiting (5 by default, set by the host)
Premium

Moderators

Trusted people appointed by the host from the participant list.

  • Receive suggestions, and push notifications if they enabled them
  • Accept or refuse tracks
  • Reorder the queue, skip and go back (YouTube, Audius, Apple Music)
  • Can be chosen as the device that plays the music
  • Can remove or block disruptive participants

The host

Creates the room and sets the rules.

  • Uses Roomzic on the web or with the Android app
  • Connects the music platform and prepares the playlist
  • Decides whether suggestions need approval, and the limits
  • Can do everything a moderator can
  • Is the only one who can delete the room
The queue

How the queue is managed

Nothing is promoted automatically: you and your moderators decide.

With approval on (default)

Every suggestion waits in a pending list until you or a moderator accepts or refuses it. When several guests suggest the same track, they are grouped with a counter, so you can see what is popular. There is no guest voting: the counter is only a hint.

With approval off

Suggestions go straight to the queue: right after the current track on YouTube, Audius and Apple Music, or into your Spotify queue on Spotify (only while Spotify is playing).

Order of the tracks

YouTube, Audius and Apple Music use a queue kept by Roomzic: you can move tracks, send one to a position, skip and go back. On Spotify, tracks are added to the native Spotify queue and Roomzic cannot reorder it.

When the queue runs out

Played tracks leave the queue. With YouTube, Audius and Apple Music the music stops once it is empty, until new tracks are accepted or you load another playlist. With Spotify, it follows your Spotify settings (repeat, autoplay).

The party works the same way everywhere. What changes is which device plays the sound.

Spotify

Play through your Spotify Connect device. You start your playlist in Spotify, Roomzic adds the accepted tracks to your Spotify queue.

YouTube & Apple Music

Roomzic becomes the player. Keep the host device connected to your speakers while moderators manage requests remotely.

Then, the technical part: your music platform

The experience above is the same everywhere. What changes is how the music is actually played. Deezer, Amazon Music and SoundCloud are not available yet.

Spotify

Beta

Roomzic works with Spotify's own queue: you start your playlist in Spotify, Roomzic adds the accepted suggestions to it. Spotify Premium is required, and Spotify access is still in beta.

  • Connect Spotify. A Spotify Premium account is required to control playback. During the beta you are asked to connect through your own free Spotify developer app.
  • Start your playlist in Spotify. Spotify Connect decides which device plays (phone, computer, speaker). Roomzic has no device picker and does not start the playlist for you.
  • Guests suggest, you decide. Suggestions wait for your approval, or go straight to the queue if you turned approval off.
  • Accepted tracks join the Spotify queue. Accepting requires Spotify to be playing. Roomzic cannot reorder the Spotify queue: use the Spotify app for that.
  • Optional: convert to YouTube (Premium). A Spotify playlist can be converted into a YouTube queue played by Roomzic, which then works like the YouTube flow.

Available

YouTube has no external queue to write to, so Roomzic keeps its own queue and plays it in an embedded player. Audius works the same way.

  • Load a playlist. Connect your Google account and load one of your YouTube playlists into the room's queue.
  • Roomzic's own queue. Accepted suggestions join that queue right after the current video. You can reorder, skip and go back.
  • The player device. The Roomzic page on the host's (or a chosen moderator's) device runs the YouTube player. Keep it open.
  • Automatic playback. The queue advances by itself when each video ends. Videos that cannot be embedded are skipped.

Apple Music

Available

Apple Music plays through Apple's MusicKit in the browser of one designated device, using the host's Apple Music subscription.

  • Connect Apple Music. An active Apple Music subscription is required for full playback.
  • Load a playlist. Load one of your Apple Music playlists into the room's queue.
  • Playback in the browser. MusicKit plays the queue on the host's (or a chosen moderator's) device. Keep the Roomzic page open.
  • Same queue for everyone. Accepted suggestions join the Roomzic queue, which you can reorder, and everyone sees the same current track.

Do you need a DJ?

For a birthday, a private party, a company event or any gathering that doesn't need a professional DJ, prepare your playlist and let Roomzic keep the music going while your guests take part.

Roomzic doesn't replace a professional DJ: no live mixing, no transitions, no reading the room.

Already have a DJ? Roomzic can also gather your guests' song requests in a single list for the DJ or the host to read.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to manage the music all night?
No. Your base playlist plays by itself and you only step in when you want to: to accept or refuse a suggestion, or to reorganise the queue. With YouTube, Audius or Apple Music, keep the Roomzic page open on the device that plays the music.
What happens if nobody suggests a track?
Nothing changes: your playlist keeps playing. Roomzic doesn't invent music, so choose a playlist long enough for the evening.
Can guests suggest tracks before the party?
Yes. Once your room is set up and your platform is connected, guests can join and suggest tracks. They wait in your list. With YouTube, Audius or Apple Music you can accept them right away; with Spotify, once music is playing.
Can I accept or refuse a suggestion?
Yes. With approval on (the default), every suggestion waits for you or a moderator. You can also switch approval off so suggestions go straight into the queue.
Can I change the order of the tracks?
Yes with YouTube, Audius and Apple Music. With Spotify, accepted tracks are added to the Spotify queue and cannot be reordered from Roomzic.
Do guests vote on tracks?
No. Guests suggest tracks and the host or a moderator decides. When several guests suggest the same track, Roomzic groups them with a counter that helps you see what is popular, but nothing is promoted automatically.
Can I add moderators?
Yes, with Premium. They receive the suggestions, can accept or refuse them, help manage the queue and can remove or block disruptive participants.
Do my guests need an account?
Yes, a free Roomzic account (email, Google or Apple) is required to join a room and suggest tracks. It takes a few seconds, with nothing to install and no music subscription.
Does Roomzic replace a DJ?
No. A professional DJ brings mixing, transitions and a feel for the room. Roomzic is for parties that don't need a DJ. It can also collect song requests in one list if you work with a DJ.
What happens when the playlist ends?
With YouTube, Audius and Apple Music the music stops once the queue is empty, until new tracks are accepted or you load another playlist. With Spotify it follows your Spotify settings.
