How it works

1

Connect Apple Music

The host signs in with their Apple Music account; Roomzic requests a developer token and a per-user music user token through MusicKit.

2

MusicKit runs in the host's browser

Playback is handled by Apple's MusicKit JS, running in the browser of the room's designated device — the same mechanism Apple Music\'s own web player uses.

3

Guests suggest songs

Guests search the Apple Music catalog from their phone with a free Roomzic account and suggest tracks to the room.

4

You decide what plays

The host approves or refuses each suggestion, or switches approval off so tracks go straight into the queue.

5

Synced playback for everyone

Approved tracks join Roomzic's internal queue and play back through MusicKit, keeping the room in sync on what's currently playing.

Why use Apple Music with Roomzic

Stay inside the Apple Music catalog

No need to switch services: guests search and suggest from the full Apple Music library you're already subscribed to.

Playback handled by Apple's own MusicKit

Roomzic doesn't reinvent audio playback — it uses Apple's official MusicKit JS, the same technology behind Apple Music's web player.

One shared, synced queue

Everyone in the room sees the same upcoming tracks and the same "now playing" state, no matter whose suggestion is up next.

No app to install for guests

Guests join and suggest songs straight from a mobile browser with a free account.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an Apple Music subscription?
Yes, the host needs an active Apple Music subscription to authorize playback through MusicKit. Guests only need a free Roomzic account to suggest tracks.
What is MusicKit and why does Roomzic use it?
MusicKit is Apple's official JavaScript library for controlling Apple Music playback in the browser. Roomzic uses it exactly as Apple's own web player does, running in the browser of the room's designated device.
Do guests need an Apple Music account?
No. Guests only need a free Roomzic account to search and suggest — only the host needs to be connected to Apple Music.
Do guests vote on which song plays next?
No. Guests suggest tracks and the host (or a moderator) decides. When several guests suggest the same track, Roomzic groups them with a counter that helps you see what is popular, but nothing is promoted automatically.
How many guests can join an Apple Music room?
Up to 20 participants on the free plan. Premium removes that limit.
