Spotify playback in Roomzic requires the host to have a Premium account with an active Spotify Connect device. That's not always available — maybe the host doesn't have Premium, maybe the venue's device isn't signed into the right Spotify account, or maybe the group simply wants to keep a playlist playing on a device without Spotify at all.

Rather than rebuilding a playlist from scratch on another platform, Roomzic can read an existing Spotify playlist and convert it into an internal YouTube queue: every track gets searched on YouTube, matched to its best available video, and queued up in order.

The result plays through Roomzic's embedded YouTube player, using the same suggestion and approval flow as any other room — guests can keep suggesting new tracks on top of the imported queue.

Choose Spotify as your provider, then pick "Import to YouTube"

When creating or configuring a room, Roomzic offers two Spotify modes: classic playback (suggestions sent straight to your Spotify queue) or importing a playlist to YouTube.

Roomzic lists the playlists available on your connected Spotify account.

Roomzic fetches every track

Title, artist, and album metadata is retrieved for each song in the playlist.

Each track is searched and matched on YouTube

One by one, with live progress feedback ("X of Y converted"), Roomzic finds the best-matching, playable YouTube video for every track.

A YouTube queue is generated

Confirmed matches become the room's internal queue, in the same order as the original Spotify playlist.

Playback runs in the embedded YouTube player

The room switches to YouTube mode: a designated device plays the queue, and guests can keep suggesting on new tracks.

A concrete example

Say you've built a 25-track "birthday party" playlist on Spotify over the years, but the venue's speaker system only has a YouTube-connected TV, not Spotify. Instead of recreating the playlist from memory, you connect Spotify, pick "Import to YouTube," and select that playlist.

Roomzic works through the 25 tracks one at a time, showing progress as it goes ("14 of 25 converted"). Once it's done, the room has a 25-track YouTube queue in the same order as the original playlist, ready to play on the venue's screen — and your guests can start suggesting more songs on top of it right away.

Where this fits versus classic Spotify playback

Classic Spotify playback (Mode 1) is the right choice when the host has Spotify Premium and an active Spotify Connect device — it's real-time, and every suggestion goes straight into the actual Spotify queue.

Importing to YouTube (Mode 2) is the right choice when Spotify Premium or Spotify Connect isn't available on the playback device, or when the group specifically wants to play through a YouTube-connected screen or speaker instead.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Spotify Premium to import a playlist to YouTube?
You need a connected Spotify account to select the source playlist, but once the conversion is done, playback runs entirely through YouTube — no Premium subscription or active Spotify Connect device required for that room.
What happens to tracks YouTube can't match well?
Roomzic searches YouTube for the best available match for each track. As with any automated matching, results depend on what's available on YouTube for that specific song — most mainstream tracks match reliably; rare or unreleased tracks may not have a clean match.
Can guests still suggest songs after the import?
Yes. The imported tracks simply become the starting queue — guests can keep suggesting on new songs the same way they would in any YouTube-mode room.
Is this the same as classic Spotify playback?
No — that's Mode 1, where suggestions are sent straight to your Spotify queue and play through Spotify Connect. Importing to YouTube (Mode 2) is a separate mode that converts a Spotify playlist into a standalone YouTube queue instead.
Is playlist import free?
It uses the same room limits as the rest of Roomzic (20 guests on the free plan, unlimited with Premium); the import itself is part of the Spotify provider integration.
